Honestly, who would be interested in black holes, quarks or the Higgs boson? Isn’t it much more fascinating to study the behaviour of leaves in a teacup, the trajectory of a boomerang or the sliding of a turning car? Whatever your interests in physics are: Vladimir and Mischa will follow your proposals and discuss almost any topic.

How will we work?

The course will start with the participants’ questions. Some of them will be solved immediately, some developed over several sessions, other ones will open the floor for deep joint research. Vladimir Shelest has been teaching physics to high school students and adults for over 20 years and is the founder of the Students’ Scientific Lab in Akademgorodok (Novosibirsk). Mischa Panchenko has just completed his Ph.D. in quantum field physics and works as a software architect. In a tandem, Vladimir and Mischa will deepen your understanding of physical phenomena.

What are the goals?

This course offers a platform for open discussion: you will come here to formulate your questions and thoughts, to structure them through dialogue and careful observation.  You will study methods of qualitative and quantitative analysis and develop a researcher’s attitude to physics problems.
